Hi Jennifer. What do you mean 'as a pond plant stand"? Do you mean as a pond planter to hold marginals?

If so, I don't think it'd hurt. You could just watch to see how your plants do in the various levels, moving them as needed. Could be a really clever idea!

I'd been told creeping jenny could be planted directly in the pond, but mine just faded away eventually. I keep my marginals mostly just barley covered at soil level, and they do fairly well.

I think fish would love the little holes to swim in and out of. If you've larger fish - in comparison to the planter holes, the only issue I could think of would be they'd might rub their slime off too much, or scrape themselves. Our fish have small and large caves, and they have figured out which they can fit it, so shouldn't really be an issue.

Not sure where you live, but if it freezes in the winter, you'll need to bring that clay pot into a non-freezing area or it'll break.

Do you mean you will use the strawberry pot to set a planted waterlily pot onto? I have seen people use cement blocks stood up on one end to raise lotus or waterlily pots up closer to the surface of the pond if the ponds are deep. If a strawberry pot is glazed and sealed, it would probabaly work fine. Some of the cheaper terracotta that isnt sealed, might crumble after a while..not sure.

It is such a cool idea for little fish hideouts!! We have long legged birds that like to get into ponds and eat people's fish. The pots might help the fish hide.

I read another person used cement pipes in the pond for fish to hide in from the birds or racoons etc.
