We're doing a kitchen remodel and decided to go with a wood range hood cover. This is the inspiration photo we showed our cabinet guy (our ceilings are only 8' tall so obviously it won't be this tall and it will be 36" wide over a 30" cooktop. We will have a cabinet on both sides as they do in the picture but they are our only uppers in the entire kitchen).

He's saying he may have to make a door on the hood somehow to allow access. Does that make sense/is that necessary? Because obviously I would prefer not to have a door (especially since they're overlay cabinets) on my beautiful range hood cover.
