Concur: looks like an immature Shoepeg type. Grower either had a shoepeg type in his his field ( Country gentleman, Howling Mob. ?, ) or in a adjacent field. It is crossed..

Thanks! I've grown corn on a small scale and never had one look like this. I didn't get to see if the corn silks were brown yet so that makes sense it was immature and may be a cross. My DH thought it looked like popcorn. :-)
