Some of mine are burning too..... sun angle changes and hits a leaf or two......I am trying to water, water, water but it’s hard to keep up and I only have a small yard. Good luck! And yes welcome.....:-)

what you are seeing.. could have been an event ... a week or 3 back ... minor ... but its just really showing up now ...

but things like this or that .. do not happen yesterday ...

so even if it has proper water now ... perhaps there was a drought event back in time ... or you went on vacation.. or some such ...

hosta sweat ... give off water ... and this is what happens when it gave off more than it took in ... and perhaps.. when it sunburned as dj suggests ... its not one or the other ... its both ...

regardless ... the leaves are still green.. and doing their job.. converting sunshine into energy.. and storing it in the roots for next spring emergence on that energy ...

but.. if you were all retentive and insisted on cutting them all off.. outta sight.. outta mind logic ... you will interfere with that energy storage .... and your plant might be smaller next year ..

one thing for sure.. all there is to do.. is water deeply ... and ignore it ...

Thanks for that comment ken, I did not know this fact about removing all the icky leaves. I will resist the urge to cut all the burned Rhino Hide leaves, which is almost all because it’s a young plant, in spite of my watering!

Hostas, are by nature drought tolerate, and can take the heat without watering.

Watering will not help them tolerate the scorching sun.

What you’re seeing is sunburn. You can remove the burnt leaves. But, if your sun pattern has not changed other leaves will burn next.

This hosta is not happy. He will be beautiful and worry free in the shade.

If, this a temporary sun issue, you can provide shade with a piece of burlap on stakes over the plant.

Save your water, shade your plant.

you will not make up for lack of water.. by shading them ...

with the sun in decline.. because its basically sept ... there most likely will be no more sunburn ...

downey ... its more a function of how deeply you water.. rather than how often .. if during the drought.. you would have watered down 6 or 8 inches.... some of this might have been avoided ... just spraying the surface with water... was good exercise.. but may not have been good enough for the plant ...

anyway ... the leaves are still green.. still storing energy in new root growth for next spring... so you should be all set for next year ...
