Have you seen any sharpshooter or leaf hopper insects?

Iit is a common event for leafhopper insects to excrete droplets, but it is uncommon for people to feel it or take notice. If backlit by the sun, the droplets are easily observed.

I have to disagree with the above comment. The large group of sharpshooter leafhoppers, in particular, very forcibly squirt large volumes of liquid as they are feeding from the xylem tissues from which they feed.

Sitting or standing under an infested plant will soon have you running for cover.

Yes to the back lit by the sun. I haven't noticed any bug damage, but these leaves are 8 or 9 feet up and I can't get a good look at them. I'll poke around on some of the lower ones, they can't only be going for the top most.

I have never observed one of the sharpshooters at my location in this forum region, can't attest to their volumes. I haven't seen the topic in the forums before, so it may be uncommonly observed. The light misting I felt caused me to get closer.
