The other thing about the wide/flat lip of the drop-in Andrea models - there is room to recess the skirt framing to do a tile skirt that is flush with the edge of the tub if you want to avoid the extra depth of a deck surround on the front.

We used to have a wide tub + tile deck with controls on the far side. The faucet wasn’t a problem but the drain was awkward, when giving little ones a bubble bath & not wanting to get wet myself.

We had that tub in our condo. Great for 2 people. Not so great for one as it was too large for one to sit comfortably. What about mounting it on one end?

i am having a similar dilemma. I plan to put it on the front of the tub, but don't want it in the middle as it will block the ease of getting in, especially if I want to sit on the deck and swing my legs around at some point in the future. My current tub has the faucet mounted in the corner, but I don't think it will work as well with my new tub. I am considering mounting it in the front, but offsetting it to the side so there is plenty of room to get in and out comfortably. Thoughts?

That's what we ended up doing. mounted in the front and slightly off center. it looks fine!

Great, always better to have the controls accessible. Far-side controls across a large tub (& sometimes deck) too hard to bridge over and reach safely with a huge awkward pregnant belly, or in a state of age/injury/medication-fog where the acrobatics aren’t a good idea.
