I think so. It may be a tight budget, but it all depends on items chosen and the contractor/workers. You might be able to save money by doing demo yourself, selling/donating appliances and maybe some other work if you are handy. Of course, you always need to be prepared for that 'unexpected' problem or discovery. Can't wait to see the result!

And everything is more expensive in the UK than in the US

Yes, your budget will get you a very nicely finished space. At first, pick your first choices in materials/cabs/appliances, after the bid comes in you will know where to value-engineer, have fun.

thanks for everyone's comments - we will definitely be putting in counter-depth fridge. I'll take appliances out of the $30,000 budget. I've been getting a wide range of quotes, mostly all v. expensive, but we live in a mid-size city.

I would be very interest to see how you made out, and the pictures. I can tell you probably did a great job because you were so detailed in your planning. It is very easy to look at 30k and think that it is more than enough, but if you actually try and plan out every dollar you will see that it is easy to go over budget. Our designers work hand in hand with our contractors and clients to make sure the budget is determined ahead of time and met at the end of the project.
