is the cook top on the peninsula ?

I am interested to know if you are required to have a vent over the cook top.

    There is a downward draft fan built into the peninsula. Look at the top of the cooktop - towards the seating. You'll see a raised panel. That is the fan that pops up. See the photo below where the fan is up.
