I would leave it as is, but remove all the clutter and the mirror, which seems so wrong there in shape and style.

If you paint it, it might as well be made of MDF or Play-Doh. It looks far better without a $10 coat of paint on it

It’s beautiful as is..just try to keep a few neutral creamy pillows or a throw blanket in the room to disperse all shades of neutrals..creams and light gray.

It's hard to know why you think painting is an option for this room without seeing the rest of the room, but this fireplace surround should not be painted. The finish works with the gray walls and seems to compliment you rug and furniture.

Find a mirror of quality to place over the fireplace. Take all the 'stuff' off the mantle. If the item doesn't make a statement then it doesn't belong on the ledge.

Clear off the pretty mantle...way too many small items.

Did you end up painting this, and if so - how did it turn out? We ordered a cast concrete fireplace (not cheap) and it has a couple orange rust spots on it. my installer also told me they are hard to clean and even oils from your hands can cause issues. So we are thinking about painting it. I think yours looks pretry, but I can also see if you felt it was too yellow. Everyone seemed to say to keep it, but I have seen some painted ones online that seem to look great. Also it woukdnt be a ”ten dollar” coat over the stone - I would invest in a masonry paint and primer. We’re thinking about Farrow and Ball

I would not paint the fireplace. It does seem that the wall color is not working well. Any thoughts about changing that? On my monitor it looks like the wall is grey and the fireplace is more beige/cream. I think a diff wall color could make this beautiful fireplace really stand out. Yes to removing all clutter.

I have a white cast stone and want to paint it gray… but T don’t want to ruin it and don’t know where to start or who I would hire if needed.

I would paint it. It is too yellow, as is my cast stone fireplace. I've seen some done with lime wash to lower the yellow tint in the stone, and it seemed to help quite a bit.

Pat Taylor just give it a white wash should do the trick…I whitewashed some stone backsplash that was yellow and it transformed it without taking away the stone look.

what kind of white wash you used? Tile wall looks so much more updated.
