Looks like a Hamamelis. I hope someone else can tell you which one.

if you can get a better pic of a leaf with scale ... and perhaps a stem ... it would really help ...

You can't get any closer as it's got 8' security fencing around it for deer protection. And it is chartreuse in color, it's not a camera issue. I'm surprised clicking on the first photo you can't see the scalloping on the leaf edges.

Yep, that's what I was looking at. Hamamelis fruit. I can enlarge on my iPad and being very shortsighted my natural focal length is about 7 inches.

Likely Hamamelis virginiana which would be the native witch hazel. It looks a bit unhappy between the sparseness of the foliage and the chartreuse color, so the site may be too hot and dry for what is naturally an understory plant or the soil may be lacking from whatever caused the need for reforestation.

The interveinal chlorosis implies a soil minerals problem
