Modern cabinets don’t need it. If you are doing it b cause you’re using a grippy liner to keep small things from shifting, cut a template out of newspaper or craft paper to get the shape right. You can keep taping pieces onto it until it’s perfect.

I know they're not NEEDED, but I like shelf paper. To borrow your word, I like that it's slightly "grippy" and that it makes the shelf infinitesimally softer. I like the look of a bright, pretty paper. I like that if something is spilled, it's easy to pick up the paper and clean it.

I'm not debating whether I am going to install it; rather, I'm trying to figure out HOW to do it. The newspaper template idea is great, and so common-sense that I ask myself, Why didn't you think of that?

Thanks!

I guess it is old-fashioned, but it does make it easier to clean the shelf or drawer when you can just lift out the old paper and put in fresh. Actually I have used the plastic kind that is slightly tacky on the back. If I were to redo it, I would use paper because we are trying to use less plastic. I saw some cute shelf paper on TV, little pineapples. Good idea about the newspaper. Enjoy your project, Mrs. Pete.

PS the plastic kind wipes off and can be in the drawer for years
