Thank you; I appreciate the honesty. They're okay but obviously I could have done better. The price was very tempting, but I would have done better to look around more and to pay less attention to their being a bargain.

I added/changed a few things to try and make the chairs more compatible with the table.

Thank you, ghostly vision. Yes, they are quite comfortable, definitely much more so than the old ones.

I like the toasty-neutral, and simple shape / lets the warm table relate on its own with warm rug and paint color.

Ingrid, I feel for you. I do the same and second guess lol. The chairs are fine and take a back seat, lol, to all the beauty that is in the room. I looked at your paint color and it's going to be gorgeous! It was a good choice. Now have a cup of tea and smile.

My main, overall decision on a dining room chair is comfort. I love the long evenings around the table, tummies full, contented sighs as friends settle back to continue laughing and sharing. I like the look of your chairs, but you haven’t said they are comfortable.

remodeling1840, as I mentioned above they are comfortable, although a bit heavy to move around, which is another little factoid that it hadn't occurred to me to pay attention to. I imagine they'll also look dirty rather quickly, so it's just as well that we rarely have guests and the two of us mostly eat at whatever location we happen to be sitting. In retrospect this was a case of buy in haste and regret at leisure, but I'm pretty sure that life will go on.

The carpet is polypropylene and is from esalerugs.com. Easy to clean (good when you have a cat that regularly upchucks) and very reasonably priced.

Yayagal, you're a sweetie and a balm to my soul, even more so since you like the paint color I chose. I'm telling myself it will pull the whole scheme together in wondrous ways.

Since I like your house so much, it takes a bit for me to warm to changes, but I like the chairs very much. They look inviting and balance out the room beautifully.

I like them! They’re going to look great with your porcelain and new paint color. IMO because of their height, they visually balance better with the weight of the table. And their lighter color gives the room a lift. I think you’ll be happy once the room’s painted.

I think they look great! Nothing wrong with them being inexpensive.

I also love the new chairs--they make that room look grand!
