I think you would be better off not drawing attention to this area. Paint the trim and the fill-ins around the AC the same color as the wall using a low sheen paint like eggshell. Paint the cord to match the wall to where it meets the wood paneling, then paint it a color that blends into the wood.

Place an area rug in front of the couches that includes the gold, green and orange of your furnishings. The rug should be at least 8 x 10 ft. If you don't have that sort of money right now, consider buying an indoor/outdoor rug or even a large painter's canvas and painting a design in your colors over it. Use masking tape to delineate stripes or borders. Use a stencil for designs. Look up "homemade stencil" for more info.

In the photo below the rug pulls your eye away from the wall. Place art on the other walls to draw attention away from the AC.

The problem with the curtains is the rods stick out too far past the window frame. Either shorten the rods or add extra curtain panels to fill in.
