I will be extremely interested to see if that thing can eventually survive in your zone 7b climate.

Most cold hardy citrus that is more edible than poncirus can only survive 8a.

That's 2 or 3 years away from being put outside

It looks like it's happy in Brooklyn! It was great to meet you John! I will post a photo of mine in a minute so you can see how much it's grown.

Here is the parent tree, which as I told John, was grafted to FD by Stan McKenzie. I did keep mine indoors during winter for two years before finally planting it outside, but I did protect it last winter. This winter it may be too big to fit under the cover I have.

It almost reaches the height of my fence now.

Pranab, the Rangpur cuttings did not make it unfortunately, otherwise I would have been in touch. Just know that when your wife agrees, I can send you a cutting :)

No worries Laura. I do have to downsize. This Fall is going to be interesting when I have to bring plants in.

Laura, I just purschased a Prague Citsuma from Stan April 2021. I am in zone 7a. How best do you recommend that I protect this baby tree which is only 8 inches tall during the winter time? I currently have it planted in a micro-zone next to a south wall of my house. Do you recommend I grow it indoors the first few years? If you recommend protecting it outdoors... how exactly do you protect it?

Betsy, I picked up a Prague from Stan while visiting his farm last month. A infant of a plant (new graft - only a few inches of growth), so for me, mine will continue in it's pot from Stan through winter. And perhaps a upsize in the spring ( and annually after). I wouldn't expect the prague to survive year one or two without aux heating in a normal winter. I'll definitely give mine an in ground try (inspired by Laura as well but being in a cooler zone), once it is probably 1/2 diameter main trunk (so probably 3 years for me) and when I've successfully grafted a backup (should be in that timeframe.
