Brooksville here. Same back to you, Bev and to all the rest. The stores and gas stations were already a mess today, I can't believe how early people are freaking out. I guess the last one - Irma - taught a lot of people a lesson because they hadn't been through one yet. I don't wish anyone else ill will (or wind!) but I hope it steers away from us.

Yes, be prepared if you are in the possible path, and get out if you are threatened. Cat 4 that they are predicting is very dangerous.

I'm in Crystal River/Citrus County on the West coast. We filled 15 sandbags this morning.......it was 8am. I can't tell you the last time I was out in public that early, but ya do what ya gotta do. Dorian keeps changing his path but at least, at this time, he isn't predicted to be blowing directly over our house. Time will tell but I think the East coast will get the brunt of it with the rest of the state experiencing a lot of wind and rain. We'll see........ Prayers are appreciated.

I know these things can turn at the last minute but right now they are thinking it might not affect the central and west coast so much. I have a friend in Melbourne that I am very worried about and I let her know that she is welcome to batten down and come here but she said she can't leave her home. I understand but I hope if it hits a category 4 where she is at that she won't rue the decision not to leave. Irma in 2017 was bad enough here and it was barely a category 1.

Rita, It looks like the East Coast of Florida will also get storm surge, too. I think Florida will get a lot of water and wind, the worst on the Atlantic side, even if Dorian doesn't technically land. We are currently barely out of the cone but are not letting down our guard. I'm still going to cook up the chicken in the freezer and make soup. :-) We need comforting! I hope your friend will be ok.
