I love this stair case...

I was able to find the stair posts similar to your design. My husband is interested in knowing how the newel posts were attached to the second step. He's researched quite a few options, but was interested in knowing what method you employed for this design.

amytkessler, Can you tell me the post specs and where you found the posts. Since you found them. I love this staircase too. I don't think this builder is monitoring houzz questions.

We got them from Lowes. They have the paramid top in stock, but its removable. So we'll make a square top instead. We found a local guy to cut one in half for the wall mounted portion of the stair case.

@amytkessler, Hi Amy. The balusters (aka "pickets) you purchased at Lowes, did they have the notch cut into the square picket at the top and bottom as pictured, or were they just plain square pickets ? I can only find the plain ones. Thanks.

They were the square ones. You would have to cut the notch yourself and I couldn't get my husband to do that so I left them square. The overall look is still same.
