I love the 5-minute craft videos, but some of them are deceiving, like on this one, the immature seeds they scraped out of that cucumber are NOT the ones they planted, and there is no way that orange tree grew from that seed and had oranges like that. I feel like these types of videos are why we have so many people wondering why the things they grew from seeds never came up or never had fruit/veggies, or the wrong fruit/veggies.

Still, they're fun to watch and encourage people to try to garden, so I guess there is something to say for that.

Good points, I tried a grapefruit seed a few years ago and nothing happened, but I have done cucumber seeds from my heirloom cukes and they were amazing (but not immature seeds), also peppers and onions, pole beans and tomatoes.

The video did get me charged up for planting, but I'm not sure about this year with the zone change to 10. It was fun watching.

I had to turn my small greenhouse into a butterfly nursery this summer as the heat got too high. Just waiting for the last 7 cocoons to leave and I will hose the whole thing out and try some plants. Did release 68 Eastern Black Swallowtails this year, they were all gorgeous.

Did you move further south? I must have missed it, or I'm having a senior moment.

10a isn't that hard. I miss it sometimes, and all the beautiful tropical plants and fruits you can grow without fear of freezing them. I thought I'd love it up here, being able to grow more of the temperate southern plants I love, but I still can't grow true southern azaleas, and dogwoods all got killed by anthracnose, so it's not what I thought it would be.

Just don't let your Zone Denial Disorder take over, and you'll be fine. One great thing is that you seldom get freezes and greenhouses are not required.
