ISO of a FRIEND or 2....and LIGHT!

This lonely chair needs some company, most likely hanging out on the wall in between the dresser and her. She also needs a nice light that would add a bit more shine in her day (and to the words of pages). Anyone have ideas for wall and light companions? Do you need more pictures?

I would look for a floor lamp or a nice table lamp with a piece of art on the wall

Do you have ideas for wallart? should it be 1 big one or a grouping of smaller ones? This is in our master....
didn't really want a family photo of all the kids and us...the picture I took is what we see while laying on the bed.

    Great chair!

You certainly have options! Consider a floor lamp as remedy for both concerns:

A wall sconce or a pendant light would also serve as a decorative light source and help to offset the negative space you are hoping to fill!

    Happy adorning!

Thank you! love the floor lamp! I have that one saved....it's listed at $399 right now, I saw it a lot lower than that a week ago! Should have got it! Hope it comes down some again. When I get that lamp, would you suggest some kind of painting? Or photograph in the dead space?
We love visiting Savannah, so maybe something representing there? Not sure the artwork protocol for a master bedroom ;)

That floor lamp is great. I am sure there are some savvy shoppers who can find something comparable for way less. The houzz shoppers are very very good at this- if you want try posting the lamp and asking for help finding alternatives (or maybe even that one ) at less money?

Great Big Canvas is an online retailer that sells a very large selection of artwork (including photographs) in different sizes. I bought a photograph printed on canvas in a large size for over my bed and I’m very pleased with it. Wait for a 50% off sale (or 40% off with free shipping). I would do a vertically shaped piece in your space. Art is a personal choice, but here’s one I like.

I personally thing that great floor lamp and the chair. IMO art would only take away from her!

The room is beautiful! It is hard to help with art since it is such a personal thing. I just did a search in artwork on Houzz and one of the filters is Victorian. I love this one for your space

I'd go with art that adds more of an eclectic air to avoid the appearance of trying to create a true period look, which can be a bit stodgy. One large or a pair of identically sized black and white photos matted and framed simply would be my choice. Think gallery quality photography.

    Love, love all these suggestions!!

Any art you love can go anywhere you want it. Just pay attention to scale and orientation so you get a balanced vignette.

I'd pull the chair out a bit and put a skinny task lamp behind it, keep the ottoman under the window except when in use, and hang a framed piece in portrait orientation about midway between the dresser and the corner.

While we are in master bedroom....anyone have suggestions for a queen or king bed and nightstands? I'd like to lighten it up a bit, and think the headboard should he straight since windows are curved?

It's a beautiful space. A straight headboard would look better, but I like the furniture with your moldings and floor. Can you move the bed to the opposite wall? If not, I would just lighten the space by choosing a different wall color. A lighter shade of your chair color would look beautiful.

Wall color is staying the same as well as keeping the chair. Plan has always been to upgrade to a different bed, possibly king with straight headboard. Not sure style right now? Thats where I need help. Also want new nightstands.
We are planning to keep the bed for sure, and use the bed in a guest bedroom/my husband snores room/one of our 3 kids future bedroom when they are older ;)

When I saw your chair, it made me think of this happy and very colorful Matisse painting. "Very colorful Matisse" is redundant -sorry about that. The shape of the chair back is repeated in the shape of the figure in the painting. It has colors of your chair and the dark colors of your room

The style of your bed is right for the room if you can find a similar one with a straight headboard. For a King size, I would check consignment shops. You can find large beautiful pieces like that from people that are downsizing. Wait to choose the nightstands after the bed frame. You will need much smaller ones to accommodate the larger bed, but you want to get the right height.

We would be fine with a queen, but wasnt sure if a king headboard would look better under the windiw?

would these work at all? I already them, just figured I'd check and get your thoughts.

All appear too small scale for that area- a nice large piece of wall art would be better IMO. The side table adds too much business and doesn't work. If you are using a side table consider a solid ceramic garden stool in ivory, something like these. A hanging light would add balance also. I like the one above in a shell shade style.

I have a blue and white garden stool in another area, would that be too busy tho?

I would put a tall lamp on the end table next to the chair, for function and height, and then you can use the art from your first photo. If you leave the end table bare, you need larger artwork.

here is the lamp I like....but it's expensive and I wasn't sure what everyone thought

Andrea, I almost chose that lamp for your room, then picked the pulley lamp because it was a bit more interesting. But I do like the hobnail lamp. Maybe you can find something similar for less.

I think you can use this art, if you have it framed with a floater frame to make it bigger. I like how the bending railway mimics the curves in the chair. Also, there seems to be a bit of pink in it to tie it to the chair.

Also, with either lamp, you would suggest putting the lamp pole directly behind the chair vs. left of the chair, with both way the lights over the chair? And I will tape the area out to see what measurements are, anticipating that will be huge, then I'll post pic.

Beautiful chair, and the windows are a great feature. First, I would pull the chair out of the corner a bit. Can the dresser move to the left any?
