Accessorize Around TV Console

last modified: 7 years ago

We downsized to a condo and this area of the living room has me stumped. I'm not sure how I feel about mounting the tv above the console so I'm not working in that direction yet.

Try moving the tv/console towards the door, and angle the chair near the corner, by the window, so it is part of the conversation area. I like the idea of a ficus in the corner.

Can you post additional photos of the room?

This is a open concept area so don't have a lot of options for furniture placement.

I seem to be having a problem getting my additional photo to post. I've tried twice but maybe the third time will be the charm. Here goes.

This is what we did with our wall. It’s 16 ft long, and 14 ft high. We used 2 consoles.

I closed the gap with your drapery and added a tree in the corner

That's a clever option! Unfortunately my wall couldn't accommodate something like that.

I think you're going to need a wider console and a smaller tree.

I agree with deco...larger console and a plant. The console should be about 25% wider than the TV.

The console has to stay, but I did move the sound bar back so it's a bit more balanced. I have known that some greenery in the corner would be a good idea. I have to be careful of the size, so a taller one due to the darn cat getting too interested in chewing. Possibly a floor lamp in place of a plant? Anyway, I'd really like to add some art to the wall for interest. Should I stack two on one side or add just one to the right of the stand, or both?

The tree is likely only 30" in diameter because it's 73" tall. You have space higher up in the room that is not available at the floor level.

You might have to boost it up in a planter to get the height you need for the room.

Thanks, Beverly. I'm going to check this out. I would elevate a bit in a decorative pot. What would you suggest for the wall?

Pamela, I don't see that your wall needs anything additional.

Celerygirl, love your photoshop ability! Thanks for the ideas. I especially like the first one.

Your living room resembles mine. I, too, think my wall looks blank. But I do like my long rectangular hanging. I’m still searching for something to put in the large vase.

I was also going to suggest a taller plant. I like celery's idea as well.

here are similar layouts to yours and different design options. these should give you plenty of fodder. (if you do mount the tv, don't mount it too high above the console. And you could always go w/a longer console if you do decide to go that route)
