I canned plenty and hopefully this is my last hooray. Gotta get back to moving plants and prepping for the winter.

I hear ya! I'm running from one garden project to the other and then noticed all the tomatoes ripened in like one day!

I collected hosta seeds last year for someone on gardenweb. I used some of those white organza bags from the Dollar Tree. They were in the baby shower party supply area. They worked quite well to keep the seeds from falling but kept them ripening on the stalk. I mailed them to someone from gardenweb and don't know what became of them.

Gotta look into those bags.

I grow about 50 different varieties of tomatoes so ripening is spread out, still it comes in volume. It takes 25 lbs if tomatoes to make 8 quarts of pasta sauce ...

This has been quite the year for tomatoes in my garden this season too so hostas are not getting much more then a passing glance . Between the peaches tomatoes and plums that are in need of picking between our rains , I did manage to get some of the seed pods off but not on all so will be having baby hosta weeds coming up everywhere in the spring. Oh well they are much nicer then other weeds

In the past I cut flowers off since I don't care for them (if they are lavender). But this year out of fear of HVX I have not cut them. So I have a lot of pods. Have been thinking about experimenting with them but have no idea where to go with it.

Lindalana, if you didn’t intentionally cross and then protect the pod, won’t your crosses just be totally random since you don’t know who the pollen parent was? I belong to a lily group where people are always talking about their crosses. I am jealous of their results but too lazy to do anything.

I could see crossing some minis myself but I’d have to go about it with more knowledge than I have.

I need to collect pods before the deer and rabbits get them. They're all O. P., it might be fun to plant some. Lakeside Mom and Pinstripe Sister have several pods. There's a mostly green Galaxy with one. Mine have a hard life. They'll go in the ground, and the rest is up to them.

Yep, lots of OP crosses here although I have been practicing and helping out bees. Not because I have some specifics in mind but because year was very hot so pollen generally dies not work as well.

You gotta start somewhere. Eventually I would like to have specific goal as tiny crinkly hosts goal.

Mine are all because I love the way streaked hostas look. A lot of them never set seed, but since some did, might as well give them a chance.

I have dozens of green volunteers, so the streakers seed might grow if it's just put on the ground.
