I have a couple ideas! Granted, my own monstera has recently started having issues, so I’ve posted to the forum as well, but different issues than yours :)

When the water sits on top of the soil for some time, it can be an indicator that the plant may need to be repotted. You might do some investigative work and check on the roots to see if it’s root-bound, especially if it went through a growing phase.

I also wonder if it may be a bit overwatered? Depending on where you live and the climate, of course. Once a week sounds a bit high to me, but I live in the northern area of the Midwest, so I water mine about every 10 day to 2 weeks this time of year.

oooh I think it may be root bound! I tried to break up some of the soil on the top and it looks like little pieces of root broke off. Is it bad to repot now? I live in Philadelphia so it's been a hot, humid summer. yellow leaves typically do indicate overwatering right?

While it’s best to re-pot in spring or early summer, if the plant is struggling and rootbound then I would say it’s a good idea. Aerial roots do indicate that it might need more space. You’ll need to take it out of its pot, brush away some soil, and inspect the roots to see if a root ball has formed / roots are circling the pot. If so, go ahead and transfer to a slightly larger (1-2 inch wider) pot. Make sure to use a well-draining mix, like cactus soil + perlite + orchid bark, and that your pot has a drainage hole and tray.

Yellow leaves can indicate a lot of things! Overwatering is one. My monstera is actually yellowing, though, but it’s not due to overwatering. However, overwatering will kill a house plant more quickly and more often than nearly anything. You might try going just a few more days between water and see if it does better.
