simple electric range?..

Hear me out people, and please offer some advice.

Had Electrolux induction, which after 6 years went on the fritz. Tried replacing malfunctioning components, but it gets very expensive very quickly, and the innards of the range are put together in the most assinine way imaginable. (I can buy induction jobs on Amazon for $70 each, so why should a stinking 4-hob top and oven cost $3.3k??)

Anyhow, we the fast heating of induction, but do not want to run gas (kids, exhaust via microwave oven above...), and are reluctant to shell out $3k for a GE or other induction, as they all seem to have a 25% or greater rate of problems.

Saw a Fisher & Paykell induction range that’s about $5k (!) and looks great, and we love our FP fridge, but 5k!..

So, looking to replace the accursed Electrolux with a simple radiant electric GE 30” slide in range without convection — keep it simple.

Anyone still cooking with something like that? Any experience with the simple $1k GE range?

Those countertop hobs output much less power than a full range or cooktop, for one reason.

GE has historically produced good ranges. The prognosis since Haier bought the company a few years ago is less clear but that depends on if Haier has enacted any substantial production changes ... which thus far I haven't heard that to be the case.

I am new to posting here yet I want to make a suggestion.

Would you consider a coil electric range (which I do not like!) with strong wattage output—yes!—and changing those coils to outfit with cast iron inserts?: (Check out ”Smart Burner” by Pioneering Tech). Better even radiant heat, old fashioned, very common and utilitarian in Europe. Hate induction and glass tops.

Would loooove some input from the better informed about my idea as I absolutely prefer Gas, but am restricted to electricity in a particular installation.

Originally had an electric countertop commercial grade cast iron Gaggenau about twenty years ago, but it is very difficult now to find anything similar in the States.

Solid disk cast iron elements are the way to go for this old fashioned cook if one must cook with electricity!

I would appreciate anyone’s comments...
