I have been cooking on a 60", 2 oven, 2 french plate, professional Viking range (monster) for 30 years. My husband and I are now "downsizing" and are looking at 36" all gas ranges. The oven depth and width are important to me. So is the cook top performance. We need a good variation of high to low burners. For these reasons I've narrowed it down to a GE Monogram and the BlueStar RNB. They are the only two 36" ranges with large oven dimensions (Wolf is too small). Pros for the BlueStar seem to be open burners with a 22,000 BTU high range. Cons are price, not great simmer, and lack of self-cleaning. Pros for the Monogram seem to be price, self cleaning oven, possible better simmer. Cons are closed burners, 18,000 BTU on all 6 burners, and complaints about inability to achieve a rolling boil or good sear. Any experience with these two models and thoughts are most welcome!
