I haven't seen the wasps so much, but there does seem to be a very high population of flies right now and they are on everything. Maybe they are partying it up knowing that very soon winter is coming and so is their demise.

This year I have flies everywhere as I have sedums planted across the front of my home. I've never seen flies swarm like they are this year. I can't open the garage door without a swarm!! Is there anything I can do?

In late SEPTEMBER and early OCTOBER, my sedums (STONECROP VARIETY) are covered with bees. In fact, I purposely planted them in several areas with the intent of them being in an area that I have used for pollinators. This area is away from the house, so that I do not disturb them--although I have never been bitten by them. However, I do stay away from then, and only weed or water in the early morning hours or early evening when the bees aren't active. For this reason, I would NEVER plant them in containers, or next to the patio.
