I see one overhead light -- that I'd consider changing to a ceiling fan. Is there going to be a tv in this room -- how will the room be used; how much light do you need? You have a lot of windows and natural light during the day but, unless your have outdoor lights in the eaves of the house, that isn't going to help you when its dark.

If you want/need a lot of light, unless you want a lot of lamps (and unless you want to rip out the ceiling to get overhead lights), you may need to add a box to ceiling at that one existing ceiling light and around the room at the top of the walls to hide wiring for overhead lighting.

If lots of lamps are not what you want, call an electrician and get some information about options and estimates.

I’m thinking recessed can lights, just not sure how many will need.

We don’t watch tv. Will be playing music- guitar, piano. Board games, reading.

I would get an unobtrusive reading lamp for next to the sofa. So necessary for readers. And, consider where you will be playing games and how to bring light to that area too.
