I wouldn’t use a kid scooter - I’m assuming you’re an adult and not a midget or a hunchback.
Why don’t you get a foldable bike? Much more efficient to cover that distance daily

Karin, it's called kick scooter, not kid scooter, and it's actually designed for adults as well. I do have a car, a standard bike, and a foldable bike - I ride all, and there're pros and cons to each, which I won't go into right now. Like I said, I'm looking for a kick scooter (for high portability) to ride once, maybe twice a week. Thanks for your input though.

My apologies - kick scooter (yeah bought my kid one when he was 5, Razor Makes them as do others) I don’t see grownups using these for commuting (and I lived in NYC where you see some really odd stuff) great workout for the legs / core

Are you talking something like those electric Bird things that are hazards to life and limb for pedestrians? The hate from the rest of your fellow commuters might give you some pause here. If non electric? Yeah, no thanks. A bike would be a much better choice on multiple fronts. It’s not as cool as Gen ZZ makes it look. Especially in tougher terrain. It’s not at all practical for under construction streets.

Thank you, spry - it helps to hear the opinion of someone who speaks from personal experience. After looking more into it and hearing from several other people who have actually used a kick scooter, I've come to realize that scooting for 8 km would be too ambitious. However, I'll still be getting one for running quick errands over shorter, 1-2 km distances. I've narrowed down my search to adult scooters by Razor and Micro; I'm also considering the street line pro scooters by Lucky, MGP, Blunt Envy- unfoldable yet still portable, and supposedly a lot sturdier than the foldable ones.
