I would go sport pool. Depths from 3'-5'. Certainly no diving board.

The shallow depth makes the pool accommodating for everyone. You can set up a volleyball net, swim laps, etc. Kids are too old for a diving board. Better when they're younger.

Also, less water to heat and treat.

thanks. I've also read about play pool depth which is more gradual. I'm thinking that would be good for short adults [i'm 5'2" and little kids [family members and friends families]

You can make the depth whatever is comfortable for yourself, or any users.

We put in a pool in March. We checked with our kids first regarding depth (28-34 years old). They said they never used the deep end in their friends' pools as they like to just hang out (drink beer) and talk in the pool where the water was just up to their chest. We went with a pool with a 5 foot deep end. We do have a Baja deck for the grandbabies. Everyone is happy.

I love the deep end of my pool. I put a pool noodle between my legs and do water aerobics there, and I also like to dive in from the spa, which is right next to the deep end.

We spend all our time in the deep end, and love it. We enjoy swimming in our pool, not standing. 🙂

Late to the conversation, HOWEVER we LOVE our sports pool!!!! Our kids are close to the same age as yours. We just put it in last year, the adult love it. Its easier to talk and drink beer lol. Its definitely more of a relaxing talk time. The kids have not missed the deep end. Added a deck basketball hoop and everyone loves that. Depending on your pool, we also had benches installed those are definitely popular. Good Luck and enjoy!
