To compliment the counters I would look for a white that has a hint of grey to it. One of my favorite shades is Benjamin Moore Decorator's White. To make the island pop try a soft navy like Benjamin Moore Van Deusen Blue HC-156. It's still rich but not so dark that it feels almost black.

Thank you KDC, so I had to google the BM Van Deusen color and the image that popped up is the same color that that my wife wanted the island painted. Any other shade of white we should consider?

The white would depend a lot on the undertones in your island and tile. It's so hard to see those shades in the photo because it's distorted by the camera and the screen but another great one is Benjamin Moore Super White. It's...well...pretty white and lighter than the Decorator's White.

Thanks Beth and KDC, so as I’m researching, finding out the our kitchen is northfacing. Which one of the whites will work? Will the decorator white or simply white still work? Here is the picture of the kitchen without any lights on at noon

I just had mine painted. I asked for Simply White (they matched it to a conversion lacquer), but the sample came out too yellowish. So I think they just went with 'white'. (iPhone pic, so not the greatest). there is window over sink that is completely covered outside (north) and the light you see coming through the door to the left is mainly all afternoon. more of a south/west type of light. that's it for this room

I'll have to get some decent photos w/a real camera when I'm all finished. still have to do tiling

I would just use a pure white. nothing too blue and nothing too yellow or red undertone. just a natural, pure white.

Beth your Kitchen looks great. I was afraid that if we go with just white that it will look “dingy” or “dirty” because the kitchen is north facing and doesn’t get direct sun light.

no. it won't. plus, you'll have at least 4000K temp bulbs to give it a natural white light.

if you think a pure white will look dingy, that what do you think other whites will look like? lol. or were you thinking of doing some other color

Decorators White is a 'cool' white. has a blue/green undertone. and north light also carries a bluish undertone. so if you use that, your cabs will come off looking very cool, glacier-ish white. make sense?

why don't you get a few samples and paint one of your doors? (spray on a quick primer first). That way you can see for yourself which white is right

Hi, not sure if this will help but here goes...this is BM White Dove conversion paint (can cabinet maker/painter brought from BM store/Epic Paint says Gemini for paint line), anyway, the uppers were originally cherry maple, lowers were new build..we flooded and kept the uppers to save money since first floor completely gone and gutted.

The light from from window is Northern that you see there. Just took a bit ago at 6pm central time and overcast and rainy.

I have a 4000k in large pendant over island that you don’t see in pic.

Definitely prettier with sunlight but just wanted to show you at it's dreariest.
