Nice ones reblooming! Of course the Spacecoast looks good to me. Your garden bed looks nice. I got most of mine weeded, but still need to mulch. I usually mulch with free pine needles, and they are not available yet. My front garden bed will look rather strangely til then. Love the mums and the hollyhock. I have balloon flowers and a few rudbeckia blooming. Many of my mums did not survive the winter last year, I guess I need to pick up a few to replace them.

Nancy - All my mums in ground have survived two winters. I had two planted in a barrel. One overwintered and flourished. The other died. Some "hardy" mums are hardier than others.

The Spacecoast is indeed very pretty. Are those pentas in the bed? I love those but did not get any this year. I may have to rethink getting red for next year though. And red mums too! So pretty. Mine have begun blooming as well but I did not prune them in July as I usually do so they are spreading pretty badly. But love the red color on them as well. Too hot still to think about fall!!!

Very nice indeed. I like the first 2 daylilies, plus the hollyhock and balloon flowers. Your weeded bed looks great!

Kate - Yes, those are red and white pentas in one corner of my front "red bed."; I love the red pentas because they attract hummingbirds and Pipevine Swallowtail butterflies. I have some purple pentas elsewhere, but they only seem to attract bees.

My husband likes the red mums, but I think all I have left are a couple of purples. Mums are short lived plants for me, usually doing best the 2nd year, some survive for a 3rd year but I don't think I have had any last longer than that. Like Kate, I did not get around to pruning this year, usually I root the cuttings and start a few more plants. Definitely need some different colors.

Nice daylily reblooms, I think Soul Catcher is my favorite today. The red mums are lovely, they don’t do very well for me, soooo, no mums in my garden, will enjoy yours. I have a purple aster getting ready to bloom. I found rebloom scapes on Rosy Returns and When My Sweetheart Returns, first time they have “returned “ for me.

Long range forecast calls for a surge in the temperatures next week into the mid 90's.. My visions of pansies and mums popped in my head like a cartoon balloon..........I really like your red mums. It's a red tone daylilies so seldom achieve.........Also a few years back you showed some of your Hollyhocks and I thought one day I might try them again. The ones I've grown in the past, between bugs, disease and the heat, never did well. This year I special ordered one and it's in the ground as we speak. The rabbit invasion earlier about did it in, but I dug in my heels, made or bought all kinds of barriers against them, and so far so good. It was touted as being a first year bloomer, but not for me. Thanks for the suggestion. It's been an informative trial and error at the very least. BTW, your Hollyhock is beautiful. Will it come back next year?........Maryl

Maryl - Fiesta Time is a biennial hollyhock, so it should come back next year. I had one a few years ago though and it did not reappear the second year. We'll just have to wait and see. It's a shame your hollyhock didn't bloom this year. Is that one perennial or biennial?

Debra: This particular Hollyhock came from Annie's Annuals in California. If you read the blurb to it, it should come back for a few years. Our climate though is radically different from where they are so it's a roll of the dice what it will do here or if it will even survive. I will say that it has had no rust, or any disease problems so far - which is a big improvement from years past...............Maryl

Well, I thought I would try to post my longest blooming plant of the season. This has been blooming since early August on rebloom. I know it took a break, but it is a mid season bloomer and has been blooming almost continuously all summer. Midsummer A woman's Work. not my favorite type of bloom, but how can I dismiss such a heavy bloomer. It has rebloomed late each year since I received it as a bonus. about a 4" bloom, still has a few buds

Sherry - Somehow I missed your post. How great that those Apps rebloomers are finally giving you rebloom! Asters don't tend to overwinter for me. I had one that survived for three years one time. But in the past five years none have overwintered. Most of the mums survive for three or more years here when planted in the ground. They usually make it two planted in a barrel.
