Ostrich Ferns wintering

I have 9 ostrich ferns that I planted in containers this spring (Michigan). I’d love to have this set up again next spring, but I’m not sure how to winter them.

I can’t bring them inside to winter.

Cut back or cover? Can they go dormant in a shed for the winter? I have a veggie garden I’ll clear out soon, should I transfer them to that to spend the winter?

After many attempts, we have come to the conclusion that ostrich ferns will only overwinter in the ground. Even that may be iffy if you are planting them now, but it is their best chance.
