Hi there! I recently finished a kitchen reno. In our pantry we had been planning to put in leftover quartz we had from our slabs for the kitchen, but ended up with not enough.

We were already way over budget and our contractor was way over time he had planned, so I picked up maple butcher block and some Waterlox (the tinted version) and installed and finished. But it didn't end up feeling like a protective finish. It tinted the wood, but it still just feels raw. It's a 2 part system (the tinted oil and the topcoat oil) and the guy finishing it followed the directions on both. He hadn't worked with it before but his understanding was as it cured it would start to feel more like a resin finish. But it's been 4 weeks and that hasn't happened.

I'm trying to troubleshoot and figure out if there's an issue or if my expectations were off. To me it feels like there isn't any topcoat. There's no sheen at all, and feels more rough and dry compared to say a finished floor. Does it maybe just need more topcoat applications or is my expectation for how it would feel/appear incorrect?
