Kitchen island design help!!

I would love to put in a kitchen island but I don’t think there is enough room to comfortably have an island within the U of my kitchen. I am thinking of putting a bigger island with seating in the dining space ( the breakfast area) of the kitchen. What do you think? Could that work? What size would you make it?? Thank you!!

Stick with a table in the "Breakfast" space. It isn't designed/sized for a permanently attached island. You have to work around the sliding doors, the Family Room entrance, and the entry hall (including Powder Room access). You're better off with a table that can be moved around as needed (e.g., when you're having an outdoor party and you want to clear the path to the sliding doors).

Island in Kitchen...Even removing one side of the "U" won't be enough space for an island with seating.

25.5" deep counters

+ 45" aisle (compromise b/w 42" and 48" with DW in aisle)

+ 41.5" deep island with seating (minimum recommended overhang is 15")

+ 44" aisle behind seats

156" = 13'0"

You're 12" short of the minimum needed.

It won’t look right unless maybe you change the slider and lose one side of the U.

No island. Too small. You really need FOURTEEN feet to have a decent island and clearances. So, NO.

Have you thought about a counter height table in the breakfast area? A family member went that route and it looked good in the space and gave off an island-like feel.

Do not do a counter height table in the eat in portion most people do not like sitting on a stool for a proper meal everytime and NO you can’t do an island in this space no matter what

Not every kitchen can accommodate an island, and unfortunately, yours can't.

What is your reason for wanting an island? Do you need more prep space? If that's the case you might be able to get a small little island on casters to wheel over for prep and then place it along the wall of the fridge when it's not in use.
