Hi,

I have had a GE 30" range for a long time, but it has died. I remodeled in 2011 with lots of advice here, and didn't upgrade the range. It appears now that many 30" are deeper than they used to be at the time of my remodel.

One appliance store that is local and still has knowledgeable help, told me that I probably would be happiest with the Samsung because it still has wings or overhangs on the side and back, and it is not quite as deep. For other models, such as the GE and Kitchenaid, install would almost certainly involve cutting into my granite. Also, he could charge me $50 to have someone come out and look but shy of that, they couldn't confirm. But he thinks it's "almost 100 percent."

I really like my granite and I don't want anyone messing with it. It seems like a recipe for disaster.

I have been spending time on various review sites, Costco and the home stores. I have not been able to verify this issue either way, as they don't seem to comment or care.

Anyone know this range? What are your thoughts? Should I rethink this?

Any other suggestions that would potentially meet my needs?

Features I'd like:

1. One large oven (Not dual)

2. one burner able to simmer well

3. Stainless Steel top (not paint that can chip)

4. Controls on front, not top, for ease of sliding pans on and off.

Features I'm neutral on:

1. Convection (already have it w microwave)

2. Fifth burner

Features I don't want:

1. Dual fuel
