Wood would look awesome in the right setting. Depends on what is going on around it. Granite/quartz would be great because of not staining, especially red wine.

Since it is a bar area, I like the bottom picture the best.

But, it depends on what is going on in the rest of the area.

I would not use wood for counter in “wet” area. Much less maintenance with quartz or granite. I would use tile for backsplash with matching grout. If you want wood look, there are some marbles that are “vein cut” that have warm colors and might look good with navy cabinets. Let me look for some ideas for you. Bbl

nothing will really be "wet". no sink. just more of an area in between the kitchen and dining room to store wine/other drinks.
