Bathroom color advice

Hi,

We'd like to replace our master bath vanity, and while we're at it, maybe change the color scheme of the bathroom up a little. We're on a budget, so we're keeping the tile floor and granite shower tiles the way they are.

Just looking for recommendations on potential wall paint colors, as well as vanity top and cabinet colors, that would complement the sandy-colored floor tile, salmon-pink granite of the shower, and almond toilet. Dimensions are 4'x6' not including shower and toilet cut-out areas.

Any other design ideas are welcome!

Thanks

I’d go with a cherry wood vanity and with a black top. Pick the lightest color in you tile and put that on the wall. The cherry color will pull in the pink of the granite and by having a black vanity top, if you ever change the toilet or shower it’s a neutral color that really goes with everything and it too will tie in the pink granite.

I really like the suggestion of the cherry cabinet, but remember, your home is one large space that needs to be cohesive. If the rest of your home is light, bright and airy and you do cherry and black in the bathroom it will feel off kilter.

Each room in your home should relate to the colors and styles in the rooms adjacent to them.

Example - Blue walls in foyer relate to blue sofa in the living room. The orange pillows on the living room sofa relate to the Orange flowers on the dining room table and the blue and yellow dining room chairs cushions relate to the blue sofa and the yellow walls in the kitchen.

What does the rest of your home look like? What is your style, what are the colors used in the rest of the house?

Thank you for the advice! I'm a bit iffy about a black top and cherry wood, although I do agree it complements the other colors. We've got espresso-stained oak flooring throughout and espresso bedroom furniture (we've got lots of espresso!). I don't think the cherry would jive with the espresso just outside. I also wouldn't tie it with the kitchen cabinetry since the bedroom area hasn't kept up with renos done in the kitchen and living areas. I'm actually thinking of tripling down on the espresso and going with espresso vanity and a taupe-ish colored top -- a top that doesn't have much pattern but maybe with accents of pink or blue-gray to tie with the shower granite. I like the idea of going with a lighter shade on the walls.

    Colors I'm thinking of:

Since you're on a budget, is the vanity in good condition? If so, then consider painting it the espresso color(good choice by the way).

I love the idea of the espresso cabinet.

Can you paint a sample of the bedroom wall color on a sample board and place it next to the the floor and shower tile? It looks like it is a light grayish white that may work well for the bathroom as well as the bedroom.

The only decision that will be left is the vanity top. I might go after a solid surface counter top with an integrated sink that has no pattern.

I wouldn't work too hard at bringing in the shower tile colors because when you eventually decide to replace the shower tile you don't want to have to replace the counter again.

Always work toward your eventual goal.
