Brian and Bob, you can add me to that club! I just gave away one of my Cara Cara trees for the price of a pest expert coming to my house to rid the wall or a hornets nest! Thank God I had something to bargain for which I did'nt feel any pain at all. One less tree to worry about. In fact I gave him another just to be nice. 2 less to worry about.

Dave, amazing job. Is that a tree you bring into your garage that gets very little light and cold temps? Or do you keep it growing all winter long under lights somewhere warm? I need to get one after seeing yours and Brians, and Bobs.

Brian, I am not going to give her anything, as much as I like too. Here is the point, you buy the best grafting knives, like the ones I bought back in the seventies, these were TINA knives. 40 some years later going through an ungodly amount of grafting, apples, pears,stone fruits, you name it. Such small investment, so much pleasure, unbelievably.

When I walk through my property see all those homemade trees, nothing like it.

Mike, funny you ask me about my grafting. In the seventies I joint NAFEX forum, before the internet, found some interesting forum friends, they got me rolling. Met those guys, later to joint them in grafting sessions, most of the time, Sunday,s at the Chicago Botanical Garden. Large audience, cost $ o.75, and you get to keep your work.

Propagation by grafting is addicting, once you get the hang of it and become proficient and successful. It can certainly get out of hand though! Soon you will be getting all this scion material mailed to you from fellow citrus growers all over the country.

I just did a ton of Washington Navel grafts last weekend. Now, if even half of them survive I'll soon be running out of space. I totally top-worked this citrumelo seedling with Navel orange.

Lol no knives for me. I am such a clumpsy girl! In fact, I don’t graft anything without using cut resistant gloves. But I agree that it’s a very addictive thing and you get a good feeling of accomplishment once you succee.
