Baby quilt from 2011 lotto blocks

I made this bright and cheerful baby quilt using lotto blocks I won in 2011. I had "lost" these when we moved houses but recently "found" them in the far reaches of my sewing room. Thank you to everyone who sent in a block. The block pattern is Nine O'Clock from Quilter's cache: http://www.quilterscache.com/N/NineOClockBlock.html

I used a green flannel for the back and a bright orange binding. The quilt is about 40" X 40".

This is another baby quilt entirely from scraps cut into 2.5" squares. I used mostly pink/red and a few other colors mixed in. This also finishes at 40" X 40". Needs about one yard of background fabric.

Both the quilts will go to the Socorro foundation to be used in their refugee center in Hidalgo, TX.

This forum is my first quilt guild and I've got so many ideas and inspiration from all of you. Thank you.

Such great quilts, Vasu. It's so fun to see the lotto blocks used (although this one was before my time on the forum). What a good idea to use orange for the binding. I would never have thought of that. I really like your Ohio Star on point too.

They are both beautiful quilts. I especially like the baby quilt. I wouldn't have thought to mix red and pink, but it looks so pretty.

vasu, Good for you in putting your lotto winnings together! I ran across some the other day myself, and they are green. lol Loving the scrappy square star.....very much!
