I’m looking for ideas to remodel my dark kitchen. It has mahogany stained cabinets, dark brown granite, and unattractive beige tile flooring. The windows face west and patio door faces north so there isn’t tons of light. I’m thinking about painting the cabinets white, replacing the counter and back splash, and replacing the floor with wood tile. I’d like to replace the island with a larger island that has room for seating and more storage, but we might need to take up some carpet to make that work. I’d like to either paint the island or go with wood as I want to keep the kitchen warm and inviting. I also want to remove the built-in desk and add pull-out trash and recycling drawers. I have GE Slate appliances that I plan to keep. And lastly, the remodel will extend into the adjacent laundry room leading to the garage which has the same cabinets and flooring.
