It's a fire hazard to have a microwave in a closed cabinet.

It's not going to be operated while closed.

And yes, that might be your plan, but then one day your babysitter is over and she's heating up some soup and closes the cabinet and there goes your house (and child and babysitter).

Plus, you can't access the cabinets above without closing the cabinet. One day, you might close the cabinet to access stuff above and then forget to re-open it.

It is a single panel just routed in the middle. There are two horizontal strips about 1" wide attached to the back of the panel, each a few inches from the top and bottom, likely for stability.

Wow, posts are disappearing again. Houzz no longer wants our pics, it seems. Trying again — I think we had Blum in our last kitchen, see pic. I loved the setup. So tidy and convenient. In our new remodel we splurged on a built in Bosch speed oven. Ugh. works half as well, harder to reach in, costs fifteen times as much, and will be awful to replace. I so miss my lift-cab micro. The hinges were bulletproof.
