save old appliances from dump?

Hi!

We are in the process of remodeling a 100+ yr old home and there are some old appliances that I’d love to save from the dump, if possible. I tried calling a few vintage/antique appliance repair places and they said that my stove and oven were “not the right vintage” (in other words, there is not much of a resale market for these specific models so parts are very difficult to find and ergo the appliances are not worth salvaging).

Do you helpful people have any other suggestions? I tried posting for free but no one was interested. :(. We will definitely not be keeping these (sorry!).

The range is a wedgewood (with built in toaster!) and the oven is a western-holly.

Post them in the ShoppersSquare section on AutomaticWasher.org. Some people there are into cooking appliances. There's also eBay, CraigsList, and the Marketplace on Facebook, among other resources, to consider. Good luck!

Someone will want those (they're beautiful!). If you're not near a major metropolitan area it might take a while. eBay and Craigslist have worked for me.

Yes the appliances still work! :) And I agree that they’re too pretty to let it languish in a landfill. I’ll try my luck with the above suggestions and see if I have any takers (I really though the three local appliance restoration folks I contacted would be interested bc I was offering it for free but they passed!!).

If you are giving them away, take care that people don't come and just take them to the scrapyard for the money. I see scrappers all the time throwing all kinds of what looks like usable stuff into the heap, because they'd rather get a dollar for it than wait around to sell it for ten.
