I just purchased from Budget Blinds. Very easy to work with and got exactly the right product for my needs and windows.

Check out Smith and Noble's Solar Dual Shades, which are two shades in one. They have a mount size for a 1 1/2" deep window, so shouldn't be too much excess projection.

Patricia Colwell Consulting, I have blackout curtains for night time. I need light in the bedroom because that is where I get dressed. Getting dressed/picking out clothes in the dark/poorly lit room can lead to unfortunate clothing/color choices.... I am worried that the 10% light they let in won't be enough.

shadylady2u, I actually could have something project 3" without issue; however I thought the mounting depth was the amount of wood that has to be available for attaching (with screws etc) the shades. Are you sure that I could attach those in a 1" deep window? If so, that opens up a lot of options for me.

So I just checked out the chart at S&N, and looks like the headrail is about 3" and it requires a depth of at least 1 1/2", so looks like it won't work. Sorry. I guess you could send them an email to double check tho.

When I measured mine thinking I could order online and save, two of my windows didn’t have the stated depth. Budget Blinds had no problem fitting shades. I had to get new brackets to hang the sheers from my rods and I’m really happy with the result. More expensive and worth every penny.
