Kitchen floor advice

Thinking of replacing my kitchen floor. The sheet vinyl has a couple of small holes, scratches by the oven, and is coming up near the slider. My husband thinks that’s all fine and we can live with it, but I think the floors are dated as well. Opinions?

Dated is not a reason to install a new floor. That's like saying I'm bored. Doesn't work. Tears and holes are another story. And that's the story to give your husband. otherwise, it looks good to me.

It is a real live corded wall phone! Cool!

I agree that if you don't want to continue the hardwoods, something like an LVP or sheet vinyl that looks like slate would be a nice choice.

I agree either the same wood as the rest of the house or a vinyl that looks like stone.

lol...yes, we still have a corded phone....spotty cell service at the house...makes for a good conversation piece Thanks for the responses. I was reluctant to continue the hardwood in the kitchen, because we will always have a dog and things get wet, and I’m also worried about things that drop staining in between the boards. I like the idea of sheet vinyl that looks like stone, and a darker color, something reddish/brownish? Mannington has some great options.

I'm not a pro. However, Google "Tarsus Gray" to see the tile that we almost chose for our kitchen (our handyman convinced us to go with a waterproof wood laminate instead, as our floors tend to sag a bit and he was worried that the tile might crack). I think that the Tarsus Gray might look good in your kitchen.

FWIW, my friends think their dogs help their kitchen floors, they lap up any water or spills.

I wouldn't add any more reddish brown, which you already have in your cabinets. Look for a stone look floor in either a taupe color from your back splash or a light slate gray color (best option), which would coordinate with your countertops.

Good points and good comments, thank you. Now I’m actually leaning towards continuing the wood! I will check out your suggestions.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We ended up continuing the wood into the kitchen. It looks great! Now I’m eventually

looking for a glass top table

I'm coming to this thread late, but am SO glad you continued the wood. I've had wood in my kitchen for 25 years through 2 children and 3 dogs. I do have a runner in front of the sink/dishwasher area. It's held up great. I wouldn't have done anything else.

Floors look great! You could paint your table rather than replacing it with a glass one.
