Karen - just saw this, and wanted to say that last year, I followed up on his offer, since I am still fairly new to daylilies, and was lucky enough to succeed in getting in time for a packet. He was very generous. I checked out the crosses, as he keeps an online record of his seedlings, and next summer I anticipate some glorious beauties! But even more importantly, from my perspective, is all the new genetic material I'll have access to! Great deal for anyone getting started at hybridizing.

I don't know him personally except that I met him recently at a AHS REgion 3 convention. I think he was one of the organizer and also a speaker at the even. I am not sure of all his hybridizing goals but the two that I know are green and striped daylilies. So for any beginner who shares his interest, they are getting a gold mine in seeds esp. those from his seedlings. WEre you able to get some this year? If only I was a beginner!

Karen - no, I won't try again, as I have a bit more experience now, and a flood of materials to work with. Sitting in my fridge are 6 baggies of seeds. I'd recorded what I had, but hadn't counted them all until just now. Total: 4796, of which only 87 are ones bought this season on Lily Auction. I kind of went crazy hybridizing this summer - lol. I think i have space for about 450. Next year, I'll try to control myself a bit better. :)
