Hi Heike! Thanks for your question. The white cabinets are a painted finish on MDF in a high gloss finish. The handles are integrated into the doors, where they have just cut the top on an angle to create a reveal for your fingers to fit in to open. The wood portion of the kitchen cabinets are a walnut wood veneer that was finished with a tinted varnish. This allowed the natural colour and grain of the walnut to come through, but we were able to tone down the orange undertone of natural walnut. Hope this helps!
