Love that wallpapered feature wall! Yes...from the medallion. I’m not loving the capiz chandelier, would like to see a cut glass chandelier or something very Scandinavian modern. White linens with minimalist black piping, let the wall and chandelier be the star. A black tufted velvet bench at the foot of the bed would further tie in the drama. Can’t wait to see the finished room!

I agree, the problem is not location; the problem is that fixture in that location. Choose something that doesn't stop your vision, but allows you to see around/through the fixture. Get rid of the medallion and just have a regular fixture plate at the ceiling. Another option would be to forego a chandelier in favor of a fan. Or pot lights on a dimmer for overhead, and lamps on nightstands.

Wow, this is my first time ever posting here. I can't believe I haven't done it sooner. All those months and months of agonizing in isolation over the finish of a doorknob or a drawer pull...

Thank you, everyone - for the chandelier and all the other ideas! I will let the chandelier live in that room for a while, hung straight from the medallion and hung on a shorter chain (as it was meant to be), which will prevent it from blocking the feature wall. At some point, if it doesn't feel right, I will replace with another fixture. I already have spotlights over the closet.

In terms of style, for the whole house, I went with eclectic contemporary crossover, with a dash of maximalism. Ha! I am a nurse, not a designer so I am pretty sure I just made that up and that I am messing up left, front and centre!

I made a few choices for this room, including bedding (white and dusty rose, stonewashed linen bedding, photo courtesy of Etsy), white leather drawer pulls and closet pulls in a brushed gold finish, and an antique settee opposite the bed, in baby blue velvet and walnut (needs some TLC - reupholstering/refinishing etc.). Still choosing lamps and drapery. For lamps, I will test the Audrey lamp from Structube (photo) in brushed gold finish. For drapery, stonewashed white linen or heavy white velvet, matte.

I am keeping my fingers crossed it turns out OK or at least makes me want to spend more time in my bedroom :) Thank you a million again, this is so wonderful!

What if you painted the medallion with pearl finish paint to tie it in with the shells. The chain could also be painted so it doesn't stand out so much.

I don't have any further advice but I wanted to salute a fellow "a bit over the top" decorator - although I had the backup of a designer to help me feel comfortable about some of my design choices since I wasn't going with beige or gray :-). I have a blush chaise lounge in the bedroom for starters :-).

I have a medallion with a Neo Gothic vintage chandelier hung from it. It's not centered over the bed or even centered over the room but it is what it is because my ceilings are cement and there is no ability to move it.

I also had to swag the vintage chandelier over my dining room table for the same reason because obviously I wanted it to be centered over the table - so swag it. I have to say I ALMOST put a sock on the chain until I saw how ridiculous it looked and had the electrician take down the chandelier and remove the "sock". It reminded me of putting panties on a dog or when the Victorians spoke of white meat rather than chicken breast and didn't speak of piano legs LOL. The HORROR of a chain. Why in the world do designers/decorators feel a sock is preferably aesthetically to a nice honest chain. Obviously not all chandeliers are meant to be swagged but this chandelier hangs from a chain anyway and has chain ornamentation as well.

I have some Capiz shades that I had been using for my sconces but sadly they are a tad too short - love your Capiz chandelier by the way. So I am waiting for delivery of some mica shades - I found a guy on the internet who does custom mica shades and lamps.

Anyway I love your wallpaper combined with the blush accent linens.

i do mean nothing .., will" block" the feature wall! Rooms should be allowed to reveal themselves ..... every element need not shout at you on entering. A lamp shade can partially hide a frame or picture. A pillow can have a contrasting backside!
