Did they know you weren’t putting a cap on it? Did you see their work? How did you choose this vendor? Glass stairs are very expensive and I’m shocked it wasn’t cut on a c and c machine.

Yes, they knew we weren't going to put a cap on it. In fact we even had to pay extra to get a wider show midway through the process in order to accommodate the thicker laminated glass. From your experience, would C&C cut glass really result in 3x the cost to the customer?

Looks unusual to me. I’ve only had one client with this detail (I live in a very traditional region) but theirs had no visible seam between the layers.

THey just want you to pay part of the CC machine IMO all glass shops should have one if they are doing this type of glass work.

It seems like a problem is what looks to be the exposed laminate. That will not wear well and will be difficult to clean.

I doubt you'll get any input from glass vendors or fabricators although I hope someone in one of those arenas will answer your question. We had to have glass windows redone three times due to error because we were using tint. Communication failure occurred between glass manufacturer and window company; labels were applied in error on glass; and, several other issues. I would not accept what you are showing as acceptable.
