I would not paint until you have a color selected for the sofa. Once that is decided, I would suggest an area rug that has the color of the sofa with other colors in a pattern, since the sofa is very neutral. Take the colors from the rug and use them throughout the house, including paint. Looks like you may have to paint the fireplace as well, once you make the switch. Take your time and get a good feel for your new home before you begin to decorate. I see a lot of familiar features as my home. When was yours built?

Thank you for the suggestions! Maybe that's just what I need to do, take a step back and take my time. I'm just so tempted to do the painting before moving everything else in. This home was built in 1929!

I actually very much like the paint color the stagers used. Start there. Then next I'd find a rug you love that has multiple colors in it. Use those colors as the basis for your furniture textiles. Perhaps go more neutral for the sofa and pick a color from the rug for your chairs. Then find some pretty patterned pillows that coordinate with the rug.

Pick the shade of paint LAST. There are a limited amount of fabrics and rugs, virtually unlimited nuanced shades of paint that will enhance them. That said, I am not fond of that colour either but you will save $$$,aggravation and time by waiting. Congrats on the very pretty new house!

@Debbie Downer, yes, I'm aware. Just chiming in that the paint color is quite nice, IMO. And that if she's open to changing her mind, that's one less expense to re-paint.
