What a pretty picture! I think if you are able to build something similar to your inspiration picture you can’t go wrong - it’s timeless, elegant, and functional. I think these can start to look dated if they do not look built in and do not extend all the way to the ceiling. And glass doors help keep them from feeling too heavy and taking up too much visual space - colors do this too. Certain colors and stains can look dated, but white is always right! Flanking the sinks creates a calming symmetry that fades into the walls, whereas the ones stuck in the middle, between 2 sinks, can break up the visual flow and look cluttered.

I’d rather see them flank the sinks than have one in the middle. Love the picture. In most bathrooms, upwards storage makes good use of space.

Looks like a lovely solution! Personally, I use a medicine cabinet. Same idea. I especially like the shelf above the sinks for daily items.

The first thing I consider for any area that gets a lot of humidity, plus might also get exposure to bath powders, hairspray, etc is: How easy it to keep looking clean and neat? When I look at the bathroom pictured, I see lots of nooks and crannies, plus loads of glass. If you have hired help, no problem, but otherwise might be worthwhile to imagine yourself cleaning that bathroom.
