Are you willing to put some $$ into a new facade, or do you just want decor ideas for the current design?

Like Sammie J, I think we need to know if you plan a complete redo. Considering that the photos don’t reveal much, your room currently has very traditional style elements, so going clean and contemporary would require major changes, to the facade of the fireplace itself and the double mirrors.

First step just remove mirrors and have drywall ( or whatever material is code) behind it repaired and painted.

Before tackling removing those mirrors and opening that can of worms, google “how do you paint mirror glass”. I would try getting an artist to paint a pair of abstract art pieces and leave the wall intact.

I am really looking for decor ideas. I don't want to remove the mirrors just yet.

I would consider layering another mirror for decor. It is so expansive. I would want to at least ground the mirror closest to the mantel.
