I would switch painting by chairs and the other two on fireplace you don't need any more things in the room

Would it be possible for you to put the two chairs on the side where the tv is, and the tv where the two chairs are? If not, I'd move the picture from above the fireplace and put it between the two chairs, and put the other two pieces above the fireplace - try them off-set a bit, leaning on the wall rather than hanging.

i would say remove the two and either do a long piece above the chairs, or stagger them a bit so they're not exactly the same height.

if you like them as-is, a simple fix would be to add a throw to the chair in the corner. would give a pop of color and add visual interest.

The TV is hung too high...it’s better at eye level to a seated adult.
The two grille things over the chairs may look better elsewhere. A painting always looks more finished with a frame.

Thank-you for all the great ideas. Sounds like I shouldn't put anything on the left wall next to the fireplace and just move around the pictures, grilles, tv and maybe change the art. The throw idea is great also. Thank-you!

It does seem moving the painting over by the chairs would liven up that area and draw your eye so you don't really focus on what you perceive as the "bare" corner. I think I might spray paint the lattice pieces the color of the roofs in the painting and lean them on the mantel. I'd move the clock over by the candlesticks as a grouping of 3. On the other corner I'd get a pot the wall color and put a live plant that drapes in it. I'd be sure to cheat all the mantel parts in together (so they visually "touch"). That way the whole thing looks cohesive and not just items lined up.

I think you can just paint the lattice pieces, turn them the other direction, and use them side by side above the lamp so it looks like one larger piece of art. They should be vertical with the bottom just an inch or so below the top of the lampshade. Nothing is needed in the corner.

Before we move on, I need to ask some questions

There is a lot of bulky furniture in the space for the size of the space.

1) How often do you watch tv?

2) What seats do you sit on most often? Chairs or sofa?

3) How many people need to sit in the room?

4) Can the piano be moved down in front of the window or to another room?

Thank-you CDR Design. My husband and I watch tv almost every evening for about 3 hours. He sits in the lazy boy chair and I sit on the sofa. When our adult kids and grandchildren come to visit, about once month, there is 6 of us watching sports etc. I don't think the piano can be moved under the window. There is a heater vent, on the floor, under the window. We do have a family room, which is small, that the piano could possibly be moved to. Thank-you!!!

Then, I'd turn the dining table the other direction. Finally, I'd move the sofa back, toward the dining table. The room will feel instantly larger.

Then, I'd move the tv to the wall where the chairs are now and move the chairs to the sliding door side.

I like your picture but it looks squashed above the fireplace. It would look great on the large wall, with the sofa under it, as suggested by decoenthusiaste

Simplify your pillows and buy pillow covers in solid colors that you take from the picture.

Sorry but I am not a fan of the grilles as wall art or decor. Not interesting at all. Any prints would look better.

How about moving the brown chairs to flank the fireplace (one wouldn't move much). This will give you a pleasant and balanced look. Hang the TV on the wall where the two brown chairs are currently residing. Couch remains as is. Hubby can use the easy chair that is now in the current TV location for optimal viewing.

You have a lot of choices here a lot of fun move of furniture and design which one you like

Having the chairs flank the fireplace is a definite option IF you can move the sofa back enough. If you use my first option of the chairs along the sliders, I would place the sofa off-centered of the fireplace, so that there is walking space between the chairs and the sliders.
